Blackbear is local-first, meaning all of your data (and the logic powering the Blackbear app) lives right on your devices, not our servers.

The How

Blackbear is built by a lean team, bootstrapped, and funded on the slight margin for providing cross-device data sync (end-to-end encrypted, your data stays unreadable in transit).

We believe in socially responsible business models, e.g. business that sustains a profit so that it can empower the community that surrounds it (not shareholders).

In practice this means we charge for the features that have real hardware costs associated with them, and provide everything that doesn't for free.
